First Data lays off 159 - closes call center facility

Global technology company First Data is closing its call center in Coral Springs and laying off 159 people.

But the company said the Coral Springs office will remain to house other First Data business operations employing about 500 people.

First Data said the move will save money for the company and that employees will receive severance pay.

The layoffs take effect April 10 through April 17, according to information the company filed with the state. But the company said it notified employees of its plans back in July.
